Jules - Tenor Saxophone
‘A remarkable musician, Julian would be comfortable playing with any of the named musicians on the International Jazz Scene. His sense of musicality, timing and general perception is remarkable.’
Lee Konitz (alto sax legend of Miles Davis’s ‘Birth of the Cool’ band)
‘Julian Wakeham is an avid jazz fan and a great tenor saxophone player.’
Alex Garnett, Saxophone Legend & MC at Ronnie Scott’s, interviewed on BBC Radio 3’s Jazz Lineup
Jules is Jersey’s finest & most accomplished jazz musician. Beginning his career in London in the 1990’s, Jules has performed with the ‘who’s who’ of the British & International jazz scene. Before returning to Jersey to form Bossa Basseline Music, Jules performed regularly at venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, London’s Savoy Hotel, The 606 Club, Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge, The Royal Festival Hall and headlined to standing ovations at the Café de Paris in Piccadilly.
A self-taught saxophonist, Jules has performed all over the world. He toured the Alaskan seas while leading a Jazz Quartet on Cunard’s ‘The Crown Dynasty’ cruise ship. He has performed in New York, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Alaska, Holland, France, Belgium, Spain & Denmark. In 2004, Jules appeared as a musician in the movie ‘Shoreditch’ alongside Shane Ritchie & Joely Richardson, and was invited to join The BB King Band in LA.
'As a composer & arranger myself, I found the creativity & energy in Julian's arrangements a joy...An accomplished musician, Julian is a valuable asset to Jersey - I'm most impressed.'
Tony Coe, sax legend & performer of 'The Pink Panther' theme
Jules is renowned for his sound on Tenor Saxophone, which our clients have described as ‘audio velvet’.
Carole - Guitar
'Carole plays music from the heart with finesse, integrity and above all taste regardless of the setting...a true professional.'
Alex Garnett, Ronnie Scott's
‘I loved the music you played.’
Tony Hatch, Composer & Judge on ITV’s ‘New Faces’ Talent Show
Carole studied classical guitar & piano as a child. She won numerous awards, including the Junior Music Cup at Jersey College for Girls, and as a competitor in the Jersey Eisteddfod. Her first professional residency was at the Stanneylands Hotel, Wilmslow, performing to the stars of Coronation Street & Manchester United Football Club.
Carole has performed at many high profile events, including the Official Launch of the Ford Galaxy and the BBC Antiques Roadshow Crew Dinner, the visit of composer Tony Hatch and The Jersey Boat Show. She has also taught guitar for Highlands College and the Jersey Arts Centre.
In 2016, Carole was contacted by the production team at Sky Art TV’s ‘Guitar Star’ programme. Carole was asked to audition for the show. Filming ran from March to July, which clashed with her much-valued gig commitments. Carole couldn’t take part in the show for this reason, but was thrilled have been asked!
Since 2003, Jules & Carole have played thousands of gigs in Jersey, including long-term residencies at St Brelade’s Bay Hotel, The Grand Hotel and the L’Horizon Hotel. Their Bossa Basseline Duo is always in demand.
Mick – Jazz Guitar
Mick joins us in our Trio & Jazz Quartet line-ups. Jersey’s finest jazz guitarist, Mick has a long and distinguished career as a live performer in the island & overseas. He has performed alongside many visiting stars, including Cilla Black, Ronnie Corbet and Cannon & Ball as part of the Fort Regent House Band. He was also a member of the Jack Duff Jazz Band.
Kenny – Percussion & Kit Drums
Kenny has a wealth of experience, performing in Jersey and overseas on international tours. An outstanding latin percussionist, Kenny also performs on kit drums for Bossa Basseline’s Trio and Jazz Quartet line-ups. He performed for many years with the Rod Plummer Trio in Jersey and toured the world as a cruise ship musician.
